TRURO, N.S. – All-terrain vehicles and off-road motorcycles are causing problems for pilots at a Nova Scotia airport.
Officials say there have been issues recently with off-road vehicles driving on landing areas at the Debert Airport in Truro while the Air Cadet gliding school is using the facility.
In one incident, a group of riders drove across a landing area, forcing a tow aircraft on final approach to abort the landing.
The riders were advised of the danger, but returned a short time later, driving across the same landing area and again forcing the pilot to abort the landing.
In addition, warning signs at the airport have been vandalized.
