ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – The Newfoundland and Labrador government is implementing a province-wide fire ban starting tonight.
A similar ban is already in place in Labrador, where officials have been battling a raging forest fire all week.
A release says people will not be allowed to have campfires and brush burning in and around forested areas.
The province is on high alert because of recent dry weather and hot temperatures.
More than 1,500 people have been evacuated from two communities in Labrador due to the ongoing forest fire.
