Calgary’s H1N1 immunization clinics continue to remain steady, with no plans yet to shut them down or cut hours, according to Alberta Health Services.
When at the peak, Calgary clinics were doling out 18,000 to 20,000 H1N1 shots a day, but that number has since dropped to about 5,000 to 6,000, AHS spokesperson Bruce Conway confirmed.
“It’s significantly lower than the peak, but Calgary and area clinics are still seeing a stream of people coming in,” Conway said, adding the lineups aren’t long.
Although some clinics in other Canadian cities began rolling back hours and closing, there are currently no plans to do the same in Calgary.
“It’s still been steady and the good thing is people are still choosing to get the protection and the demand is there, although it’s not as high,” Conway said.
The city’s H1N1 clinics are also handing out seasonal flu immunizations. The clinics administered 2,179 of those shots on Monday alone.
