A stunning video has emerged, apparently from the Bragg Creek area, of an entire home floating down a river and smashing into a bridge.

The video comes as roughly 600 residents of the hamlet southwest of Calgary were ordered to evacuate their homes Thursday due to flooding.

Rocky View County declared a state of emergency and initially a voluntary evacuation order, which became mandatory at 2:45 p.m.

“All residents must leave their homes for their own safety,” the county stated in a release.

As of 5 p.m., the Elbow River appeared to have crested but the evacuation order remained in effect.

“The river is approximately 3.5 meters above the level of 24 hours ago,” the county stated. “However, the situation can change very quickly with additional rainfall.”
