Metro Calgary / Robson Fletcher Emergency vehicles surround a C-Train on the tracks near the site of a collision with an SUV in downtown Calgary Tuesday evening.

One woman was taken to hospital after the SUV she was riding in collided with an LRT train in downtown Calgary Tuesday evening, according to police.

The crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Macleod Trail and 7th Avenue, said Insp. Patty McCallum.

“Macleod Trail north was shut down for about 20 minutes,” she said. “It’s now open.”

The male driver of the SUV was OK, McCallum added, and the female passenger’s injuries were not life-threatening.

C-Train service in the area was shut down and shuttle buses were brought in to transport passengers.
