Police have confirmed Wednesday that remains found on Oct. 13 in a rural area near Cochrane are human.

Cochrane RCMP, as well as the RCMP Major Crime investigators and Calgary Forensic Identification Section were called out after a report of remains being found.

A preliminary examination by the Medical Examiner confirmed the remains were human.

The investigation is ongoing.
