Police allege a 12-year-old boy sexually assaulted three other children ages six and younger inside a Calgary home late Tuesday.

The incident took place around 9:40 p.m. inside a residence in the southwest quadrant of the city, but few other details are being released to ensure the privacy of all involved.

“The victims and the suspect are all known to each other,” said police Insp. Keith Cain, adding they all lived in the same home.

The accused has been charged with three counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference. He cannot be named under provisions of the Youth and Criminal Justice Act.

It is unclear whether the alleged victims suffered any major injuries and police have yet to specify whether the children involved are related.

Cain said child abuse investigators will likely be able to speak further to the matter Wednesday.
