Target has taken aim on three new locations in Calgary, coming in the spring 2013.

Market Mall, Chinook Centre and Forest Lawn Shopping Centre will be the new homes to future Target locations.

About $10 million to $11 million will be put into each location to remodel and bring the full Target experience to shoppers.

Target plans on opening 125 to 135 stores in Canada, most of them opening their doors in 2013.
One Calgarian has mixed-emotions about retail giant coming across the border.

“If it is here, it is not going to be as fun to shop across the border,” said Melissa Bachand.

Bachand said Target will lose its magic to her once they are in Canada, but would still shop for clothing there.

“I would not be caught dead buying clothes at Walmart, but I love the clothes from Target,” said Bachand.

Each store will employ about 150 to 200 team members.

Hiring for these stores will begin in 2012.

It was announced last year that Target had purchased the leasehold interests for these sites, which are currently operated by Zellers Inc.
