Joshua Bradly Cook, 19, has been charged with trafficking ecstasy.

Calgary police have charged two people, both 19, with trafficking ecstasy, following an extensive investigation.

Members of the CPS Drug Unit wrapped up an operation Wednesday.

During the operation, they obtained several quantities of drugs believed to be ecstasy and samples sent to the crime lab confirmed the drugs contained paramethoxymethamphetamine (PMMA).

Warrants on two homes were executed in the 6400 block of 4 Street N.W. and in the 8500 block of 33 Avenue N.W. Two vehicles were also searched.

Nearly 825 grams of powdered ecstasy, including four capsules, were seized. The drugs hold a street value of $16,460.

Joshua Bradly Cook, 19, and Elizabeth Thomas, 19, both of Calgary have been charged with trafficking ecstasy.

CPS say they are concerned for the wellbeing of anyone who may have purchased drugs from the two accused and have released photos of both Cook and Thomas as a result.

Police warn that this seizure does not mean the risk of consuming street drugs no longer exists.

Meanwhile, police have confirmed that Calgary’s eighth ecstasy-related death is a result of PMMA.

In January, a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at a northeast home.

Information from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the death was connected to PMMA.
