A controversial glacier-walk project at Jasper National Park has been given a green light.

Environment Minister Peter Kent announced the approval for the project Thursday in Ottawa.

The project would involve a 400-metre trail and a glass-floored observation deck above the Sunwapta Valley.

Construction of the project could begin as soon as late this year or in early 2013.
