With the recent death of an experienced boater on the Bow River’s Harvie Passage, officials are once again reinforcing the dangers that exist in the newly-revamped waterway.

A Calgary You Tube video shot June 30 shows the kind of danger rafters may face when trying to navigate the passage, which has been recommended only for intermediate and expert kayakers.

The boaters in this video take a spill shortly after the 1:30 mark and are washed downstream very quickly.

Warnings of high stream flows have not stemmed the flow of boaters on the Bow River, prompting city officials to reconsider possible boating bans and improved signage along the river.
