Transit users can now look back at the days of exact change as a distant memory after the installation of different payment methods at Calgary C-Train stations.
At least one machine that processes debit and credit cards is available at nearly every station and ticket machines now return change.
“You plan ahead,” said Amber Hewitt, who has become accustomed to having exactly $2.75 in her pocket.
Hewitt, along with other transit users, said she’s grateful for the new added convenience.
“People are very happy with it,” said transit spokesperson Theresa Schroder. “It’s just another good alternative if you want to pay that way.”
Transit user Ayyaz Akram recently moved to Calgary from Toronto where the transit system is already equipped with similar payment methods.
“When people get familiar with using it, I think it will be much more efficient,” he said.
Some downtown stations along 7 Avenue are not equipped with the technology but should be outfitted by March, according to Schroder.
