Dust off those vampire fangs and shine up your scythe, because Calgary’s first horror convention is all set for a weekend filled with frights.
Movie screenings, makeup workshops, a zombie-board-game tournament and, of course, loads of frightening get-ups are just some of treats in store for attendees, said organizer Dan Docherty.
“I have always been a horror fan,” he said. “There’s a need for something like this. I wanted to create a show that I want to go to.”
Docherty said the convention is the first of its kind in western Canada.
Among the many guests in attendance will be representatives with the Alberta Paranormal Society, which will host discussions on spooky happenings in the province.
Horror-Con runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday inside Wyckham House at Mount Royal University.
Tickets cost $12 per day or $20 for the entire weekend.
