The Calgary police’s Checkstop bus made a stop at Bishop McNally yesterday afternoon in an attempt to help students make smarter decisions while driving.
Students were encouraged to visit the bus, where they learned information about going through a roadside stop, were quizzed on their knowledge and even got the chance to try a breathalyzer test.
“It makes a lot of the students stop and think about what can happen when you’re drinking and driving,” said Const. Jim Lebedeff.
Smart Grad was brought to the school for Safe Driving Week, which concentrates on impaired driving, speeding and seatbelt usage.
“It’s a good way for students to learn that it’s not OK to drink and drive, and that there are consequences,” said student KayLynn Vaughan.
