Calgary Transit is weighing the pros and cons of constructing a gondola that would transport northwest commuters to high-traffic areas not accessible by C-Train.

Spokesperson Theresa Schroder confirmed preliminary discussions are underway on the matter but said no concrete plans have been established.

“It’s very far off,” she said.

Areas that could be targeted by the gondola are the Alberta Children’s Hospital, University of Calgary and the Foothills Hospital. The gondola system would reportedly cost $5 million to 10 million to build and would see cars capable of holding six to 10 people come by roughly every 10 seconds.
