The part-scavenger hunt, part-foot race, part-obstacle course known as “Why?Race” will be held downtown on May 28 to teach young Calgarians about local social issues.
The race is put on by BeCause, a group sponsored by the United Way in Calgary. Its goal is to increase awareness of social issues that affect our city and how to combat them in Calgary’s younger demographic.
“Younger people have time but they don’t necessarily have money to donate,” said Robert Murphy, BeCause committee member. “It’s letting people know that it’s not really about getting to a certain age and starting to donate, but rather get involved earlier and in a fun way, too.”
