Cold weather is working out in favour of four atom hockey teams in Calgary who will not only get to compete on the Heritage Classic ice but in the Saddledome as well.
With temperatures dipping, Megan Rokosh creative manager of Breakfast Television said they made the decision to move the BT Outdoor Classic finals indoors on Friday.
With the support of the Flames, it was decided the finals would be split into two parts, said Rokosh.
“They came to the plate and basically gave us the Saddledome for tomorrow morning as well as the Heritage Classic ice extended to Sunday so the kids get to play a two-part final-the first part being on the show in the Saddledome, the second part of the Heritage Classic ice on Sunday morning,” she said.
The tournament began Monday with Calgarians voting for the two divisions they want to see compete. Rokosh said the two winning teams from division two and division five will square off.
The skills competition and family skate will still take place at McMahon Stadium Friday.
