The complexity of material items like pearls will be explored during a public artist talk tonight.

An artist showing a series of lithographs in Calgary will host a public talk tonight.

Kim Huynh, whose work is currently on display at the Artist Proof Gallery, will aim to challenge perceptions by exploring the relationships and themes of consumption, waste and self-awareness of both individuals and society as a whole.

For example, Huynh takes an item like pearls and classifies them both as a cultural commodity but also an ecosystem increasingly exhausted by the amount of toxicity in the human footprint.

Hunyh’s talk is free to attend and will take place in the EMMEDIA screening room, located at No. 203, 351-11 Ave. SW.
