Metro/File photo Karen Richards samples some poutine at The Brasserie in Kensington before the inaugural Poutine Crawl last year.

The key is to keep a packet of antacids on hand.

As 35 Calgarians prepare to embark on the second-annual Poutine Crawl, organizer Karen Richards explained this year will be even cheesier than the last.

Selling out in a few days, Richards said the bus will be making stops at six Calgary restaurants this Saturday, all with a different and delicious take on the French-Canadian classic.

“A lot of people actually haven’t tried it before so this is a pretty good way to start,” she said, adding she has a few tips for the rookies.

“The No. 1 tip is obviously pace yourself. Some people got so excited at the first few venues last year they were full right away.”

The restaurants taking part are Brava Bistro, Notable Restaurant, District, Bistro 2210, Diner Deluxe and the Ship and Anchor.

Richards said she’s considering launching another restaurant crawl for later this year, potentially with a focus on bacon.
