Calgary public school board officials have run initial projections on their share of the provincial budget and the chief superintendent admits “there are some challenges ahead.”
Naomi Johnson provided a brief update to trustees Tuesday, but said much work remains to determine impacts to classrooms. She did express support for a more predictable, three-year model introduced in this year’s budget. Officially, boards will see a one per cent hike to the basic instruction grant in the fall and subsequent two per cent increases the following two years. Board operating budgets will also jump 3.4 per cent.
