The party celebrating Ethan Hawke and Kristen Scott Thomas’ the Woman in the Fifth got a decent infusion of celebrity, with appearances by Hawke, Dave Matthews and Colin Farrell, who didn’t stay long.
He probably wanted to get over to the Sony Pictures Classics 20th anniversary party at Spice Route, as a glut of famous faces made it quite the go-to destination, including Geoffrey Rush, Antonio Banderas, Heather Graham, Milla Jovovich, Chloe Moretz, Adam Brody, Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard, who waited patiently in line before gaining admittance.
But the celebs’ preferred spot in town continues to be the hastily installed Toronto outpost of the Soho House, which has permanent addresses in New York and Los Angeles.
After hosting George Clooney and crew for most of the opening weekend, the raw space hosted Sunday’s after-party for Your Sister’s Sister, starring Emily Blunt and Mark Duplass. Both made appearances at the party, along with director Lynn Shelton, and they blended in among the filmmaker-heavy crowd.
Martha Marcy Mae Marlene director Sean Durkin worked the room with his film’s star, Hugh Dancy, while Justin Bartha, Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna enjoyed the open bar.
Monday night showed no signs of slowing, with parties planned in the Distillery District by Mongrel Media to celebrate Sarah Polley’s Take This Waltz and at the Spoke Club for the film a Funny Man, while Summit Entertainment will toast their critically acclaimed 50/50.
