• Clashing two well known source materials – the bane of every high schooler (Macbeth) with the bane of most mothers (The Simpsons) – comedian Rick Miller was perhaps “thinking of the children” when he conceived of his amusing one-man show MacHomer.
With vocal impressions of more than 50 Simpsons characters, Miller’s MacHomer is a retelling of Shakespeare’s Scottish Play, if Macbeth was a portly donut loving power plant worker from Springfield.
Canadian, Miller has toured the show internationally since 2005 in over 130 cities and after a recent swing through New Zealand, Miller finds himself back in Canada performing MacHomer at Toronto’s Factory Theatre.
This is one show you have to see to believe and enjoy!
• Cirque du Soleil’s latest big top extravaganza to hit Toronto’s Portlands is Totem, a celebration of humanity’s evolution. The show perfectly blends Cirque’s tradition as a street performance troupe, with death-defying circus acrobatics. Memorable acts include five unicyclists throwing bowls on to their heads; however, original music including a rousing finale sung by the entire cast make the show a truly out-of-this-world experience.
