I’m glad Labour Day is relatively late this year because after that, it’s pedal to the metal — not that things actually slowed down this summer.
As I look ahead in my calendar, I see two great things happening on Sept. 22, one of which will be of interest to condo owners, the other to condo buyers.
If you own a condominium, you will be interested in the Fall Home Show, which runs Sept. 22-25 at the Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place. I’ll write about the show in more detail next week and there might even be a ticket giveaway. Meantime, check it out at fallhomeshow.com.
If you are looking to buy a condo, you should pay attention to the outcome of the Ontario Home Builders’ Association’s Awards of Distinction which will be handed out the evening of Sept. 22.
The O2 project by Empire Communities, Stal Inc. and Identity Developments is up for five awards, including high-rise project of the year and most outstanding high-rise building. In both categories, Empire is up against Aspen Ridge Homes which has five nominations for Studio on Richmond. Challenging for project of the year is Madison Homes, which also has five nominations for The Madison.
There must be something about the number five because that’s how many nominations Alterra has for 36 Hazelton. Urban Capital is close behind with four nominations for Tableau. Rounding out the list is Liberty Developments who is the third finalist for most outstanding high-rise building for World on Yonge.
I always look forward to these awards because it’s not my show so I can be a cheerleader for my members and it certainly looks like it will be a good night for them.
