Mr. Mike’s 10 oz. ribeye ($23.99) covered nearly half the plate. I stared at it in amazement. I could almost see its halo and hear a crescendo of rapturous voices. Hallelujah, indeed.

I barely noticed the generous dollop of garlic-mashed potatoes, mixed veggies and two huge onion rings as I tore into the succulent cut of beef.

Its ground peppercorn rub set the exterior on fire while the interior remained tender and luscious. The svelte potatoes went down easily and the rings were a pleasantly crunchy touch. I sipped at my equally fiery Caesar ($6.99) and continued to devour my prey.

I couldn’t manage dessert – though I sorely wanted to sample the Turtle-flavoured cheesecake tower of Rocky Mountain Madness – and my family wandered out of the Bourbon Street restaurant to rejoin the tide of shoppers in West Edmonton Mall.

I have to tip my hat to Mike: When you grill a steak that well, you earn the Mr.
