Canada’s under-18 men’s hockey team lost 5-1 to Sweden in the opening game of the Ivan Hlinka memorial tournament in Breclav, Czech Republic, yesterday.

Chicoutimi Sagueneens forward Charles Hudon, last year’s QMJHL rookie of the year, had the lone Canadian goal.

Canada faces the Czech Republic today and Switzerland tomorrow. The playoffs begin Friday.
