Chicken Panini ($5.50).

Not long ago, a small, but decadent bakery opened in the Alta Vista area that provides gourmet Panini, fresh-baked desserts and homemade Lois ‘n Frima’s ice cream in a homey atmosphere.

It also offers a variety of gluten-free baked goods along with the expected gluten-filled pastries.

Though seating is limited, the choices are not.

Listed on the chalkboard were a vegetarian, beef or chicken Panini.

The mix of chicken, organic cranberry compote and arugula was healthy and tasty.

It was served on the famous Art-is-in Boulangerie bread that many Ottawa foodies know and love.

Of course, I had to sample one of the sweet options and surrendered to the mini carrot cake loaves that came with a glowing recommendation from another customer.

This cake was moist but not oily, and the cream cheese frosting was smooth and thick.

Grab your sister (or a friend) and head to this quaint and tasty café.
