In an out of the way, unassuming space in a strip mall in Barrhaven, a new bakery has opened that serves freshly baked traditional Lebanese pies.
After ordering, you choose one of the tables lined up in rows, indicating it’s more about the food than the atmosphere.
Pre-made pies are available and the cook suggested his favourite, the Beef Sausage with Cheese.
He threw it in the open flame brick oven to toast it up, then folded it over and popped it into a brown paper bag. This is fast food without a lot of fat.
I could have eaten the crust without any toppings. It was light and flavourful. The sausage was spicy and slightly smoky, pairing well with the cheese.
It was a perfect lunch for a price you can’t beat.
