Where else in Ottawa can you get a pizza pie that’s so welcoming? You feel as if you’re stepping onto the set of a Happy Days episode, with waitresses who make you feel like an instant regular. This pizzeria has charm.
The red vinyl booths and veneer-topped tables add to the ambiance. But it’s the pizza pies Louis’ is famous for. If you’re one of the lucky customers, you may just get a pizza speared with pineapple chunks in the shapes of hats or French fries in the shape of hearts. But only if it’s not too busy and Moe, the owner, is in an artistic mood. He was the day we visited.
We ordered a small combination pizza. The pizza had a thick crust, was golden and topped with a perfectly browned cheese medley. The crusts were bread-like and weren’t left behind on our plates.
For thick-crust pizzas (and artistic food), Louis’ is the place to visit.
