Transport yourself to Nice or Rome by visiting this humble Kanata pizzeria where thin crust pizzas are the specialty. The environment is homey with a few booths and tables, chalkboard menus and simple décor.

The names on the menu are charming: Chicken of the New Era (with grilled chicken, roma tomatoes, marinated artichoke hearts and feta) or Pig’s Heaven (topped with pepperoni, bacon and sausage). To add an extra smoky flavour and crisp texture, the pizzas here are grilled.

Though the chicken pizza was slightly bland and could have used an extra handful of feta, the piggy version was perfect. Hiding in the sauce were chunks of tomatoes with just the right amount of toppings to accompany each bite.

This little gourmet pizzeria is a gem among the big box stores in Centrum. Now that I know a slice of Nice is only a short drive away, I plan to travel there often.
