Someone whispered in my ear about this Italian lunch spot just off Kirkwood Ave. called Misto Fine Food Emporium. With only 12 chairs and four tables, the seating options are slim. But if you can snag a table, you’re guaranteed a delicious homemade meal. Or, take a Panini to go and pick up a tub of spaghetti sauce or a pan of meat lasagna for dinner at the same time.

I ordered the Veal Manicotti to enjoy in the darkened corner of this store/café. While waiting for my lunch, I sipped a strong espresso served with a lightly almond-flavoured Amaretti cookie on the side.

The manicotti came covered with cheese, doused with basil-scented tomato sauce, and filled with finely textured veal. It was perfect with a Baci chocolate for dessert claiming "love doesn’t make the world go around; love makes the ride worthwhile." This Veal Manicotti is worth the drive. That’s what I know for sure.
