La Casita Mexicana is the other half of an Indian restaurant in an experiment that left me full, but not quite satisfied.

With the weekday Mexican buffet ($12.99) looking forlorn, we instead ordered from the menu. As a starter, the chorizo con queso ($10) had passable pork but lacked punch. The two corn tortillas were not enough to go with the  dish.

The enchiladas suizas ($15.50) had the best flavour of the meal from a bright tomatillo salsa verde over three corn tortillas folded over cheese.

The tacos pastor ($14.50) had decent marinated pork slices with pineapple bits, served traditionally on open corn tortillas. Diced onions, cilantro and red and green salsa came separately as optional toppings. I kept wishing for more spice.

Service began with a man who didn’t seem familiar with the menu, but ended with a more knowledgeable woman.
