Where do you find the best burger in Ottawa? I’ve found another contender at Vera’s Burger Shack in Bells Corners. It’s a busy little place that offers a few high-top tables for dining, but it’s best if you can take your burger to go.

In factory fashion, you place your order by filling out a form of what you want. While waiting for my six-ounce burger to cook, I browsed The Butchery, sharing space with Vera, and picked up some veal stock.

I enjoyed everything about the burger. It was a touch pink inside and perfectly charred on the outside, with that meaty taste expected in a superior burger.

The small order of fries exceeded my expectations in size. They were blanched first and then dipped a second time in hotter. Though crisp, they were bland and needed more salt.

As well, the service from the young staff members detracted from the almost impeccable take-away food. But I’m willing to overlook some manners for a great burger.
