Featuring Big Sound III, the Den at the U of C is the place to be on Saturday night. For $15 you get a full night of entertainment from some of Calgary’s best known and up-and-coming bands, while making a contribution to a good cause – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area. The line-up features Zoo Lion, Frankie McQueen, The Evidence and The Unravelling.

Putting this guaranteed good time together is none other than Sabrina Maschmeyer from Big Brothers Big Sisters. In its third year, Big Sound is actually a benefit concert/recruitment campaign open to post-secondary goers and general public alike. You just need to be in the 18-plus category. Sabrina heads-up the recruiting efforts of Big Brothers Big Sisters and created the Be a Big Deal campaign, which Big Sound III is part of. “It’s designed to reach out to potential mentors in an unconventional way,” says Maschmeyer. “The bands have volunteered their time to play at Big Sound III because they had someone influential in their music ambitions.”
