Tens of thousands of people gathered at Ottawa’s National War Memorial for Remembrance Day Thursday to honour those who fought for the country.
Bracing against the November cold, a hush fell over the crowd, which consisted of veterans, dignitaries, public servants, students and residents as they listened to prayers, playings of O Canada, God Save the Queen and the Last Post, before watching a military fly-over.
Elsewhere in the city, residents attended ceremonies at Carleton University, the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood Cemetery and watched parades organized by legion branches.
