Halifax Dunbrack City Mazda saw its record fall to 1-1 at the Challenge Trophy Canadian senior men’s soccer championship on Thursday night.

Dunbrack fell 1-0 to Churchill Arms, the host team from Prince Edward Island, in Charlottetown. Brett Norton was the lone goal-scorer. The four-game round-robin continues over the weekend with Dunbrack facing P.E.I.’s other team, Hunter’s Ale House Selects, and Newfoundland’s Holy Cross Kirby.

Dunbrack is tied for second after Churchill Arms, which is 2-0.

In women’s Jubilee Trophy play, Halifax Dunbrack Rooms Plus opened with a big 2-0 victory over Manitoba’s WSA North Stars yesterday in Charlottetown.

Leanne Huck and Kate MacDonald provided the offence and keeper Liz Cook registered the shutout.

Dunbrack will renew its quest for gold with games against Quebec’s Vert de Sherbrooke and British Columbia’s Surrey United.

The championship games on both men’s and women’s sides are scheduled for Monday.
