Emily Hampshire and Jay Baruchel at the ET Canada party.

The terms parking garage and glamour don’t often appear in the same sentence, but for four nights during this year’s TIFF, ET Canada has transformed an ugly duckling industrial building into a chic “pop up club” high atop a downtown industrial building.

Located in the heart of Yorkville, Tuesday night had ET Canada’s Festival Central playing host to the cast of Good Neighbours, a dark comedy starring Jay Baruchel, Scott Speedman and Emily Hampshire.

Set in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood, the movie mixes and matches Rear Window, Twin Peaks and, according to Baruchel, “a really uncomfortable sense of humour,” to form a surprising and moody movie that’s become a TIFF hit.

Wearing silver wristbands (All Access!), the stars of Good Neighbours and other celebs (including Daydream Nation’s Katie Boland, singer Matt Dusk, the Olympic kayaking team, supermodel turned television host Monica Schnarre and talented twins Jill and Jacqueline Hennessy) walked the red carpet on their way to mix and mingle in the elegant open-air club.

Director Jacob Tierney told Metro the film was completed just before the premiere. “The print was dripping when we delivered it.”

Baruchel, who saw the completed film for the first time at the premiere added, “It reeks of nitrate. This is hot off the press. We just finished scoring it less than a month ago.”
