1. Juno Awards
Canada’s recording industry gathers on The Rock this weekend for the 2010 incarnation of the music awards. The show will feature more than a dozen acts, and include segments shot live on George Street in downtown St. John’s, N.L. CTV will air the show and stream it on its website, CTV.ca.

2. Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
With the Swedish film opening in Canadian theatres this weekend, Hollywood is busy speculating  on who will star in an American-version of the movie, based on a book trilogy by Stieg Larsson. Among the names being thrown around to play the lead role is Kristen Stewart — who is no stranger to trilogies thanks to the Twilight books.

3. The Bedwetter, by Sarah Silverman
There is a wonderful disclaimer from publisher Harper Collins at the start of Silverman’s book: If you are offended by stripping naked in public, or stabbing your boss in the head by a writing implement, then this book may not be for you. If you aren’t in any way nauseated, then you should buy it. I guess Silverman knows her demo.

4. Hollywood Hellraisers
Tiger Woods and Jesse James may be the new bad boys of celeb gossip, but they’re nothing compared to some of Hollywood’s past hellraisers. In his book, Hollywood Hellraisers — now in paperback — Robert Sellers examines the fast times of Marlon Brando, Dennis Hopper, Warren Beatty and others.

5. Conan O’Brien
Late night’s dethroned prince is returning to the realm of 11 p.m. this November, after the red-haired host signed a deal with TBS for a new talk show. The news came as O’Brien started his two-month comedy tour across Canada and the U.S. As always, he added a bit of humour to his announcement: “The good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I’ll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show,” he Tweeted.

6. Xavier Dolan
It’s been quite the year for the Quebec filmmaker. On Monday the phenom director of I Killed My Mother (J’ai tué ma mere) received the Claude Jutra Award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and now its been announced his second feature, Les amours imaginaries, will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

7. Avatar
In time for Earth Day, the record-breaking film with an eco-message is making its DVD debut. If you are one of the few who hasn’t seen it in theatres, you can now add to its total gross by buying it on Thursday.
