The newly-opened Boneheads is a happening place.

On this Friday evening it’s full of loud and happy students eating in and awaiting take-out.

We order at the counter where we see the cooking staff in action — they’re as content as the patrons.

Everything comes in take-out boxes with plastic cutlery.

Boneheads is super casual.

Smokehouse Wings ($8.99) have no batter and are meaty and flavourful — among the best wings in town.

Southside Links ($15.99) include large greasy sausages with a side of delicious cornbread and yummy red cabbage and apple coleslaw.

Our two chosen extra sides are the spicy Caribbean seasoned “dirty rice” and a huge pile of home-cut steaming hot fries.

The Half Slab Baby Back Ribs ($15.99) are our only disappointment.  The flavour is smoky but they’re ho-hum and a bit dry.  My side Mac and Cheese is tasty while the Garden Salad is remarkably fresh and its chipotle dressing a real treat.

Our main dishes are substantial so we don’t really need the wings, but now we know we want to come back for more.
