Just over halfway through this album, Metric front-vixen Emily Haines offers up the wonderful chorus question “who would you rather be The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?” It’s a choice that tugs at Metric throughout the Canadian band’s first album in four years. It’s poppy and melodic like The Beatles, but Haines’ bomb-dropping lyrics and vampish delivery add a  Rolling Stones edge.  Old fans will welcome back the new wave techno formula that made them indie darlings a few years ago. New converts will find fresh fantasies in  Emily Haines.
