It’s a day to celebrate the people you love. One idea is to whisk them to Ottawa’s best gelateria and then walk over the Bank Street bridge for an enchanted skate on the canal.

It’s not just the gelato that draws people to Stella Luna Gelato Café. The spot also offers a selection of unique Panini sandwiches, ready to heat and eat.

I ordered the Italian Sausage Panini and a side of Butternut Squash Soup.

In-between the crunch from the Art-is-in-Bread was a perfect blend of spicy Italian sausage, roasted broccoli, garlic and strong Pecorino cheese. The soup was creamy, soothing and mild.

Of course we indulged in some gelato and asked for three scoops. The vanilla was lost between the sweet caramel dulce de leche and the strong, punchy coffee scoop.

A lick of Ottawa’s best gelato and a skate on the canal has the promise of bringing Valentine’s Day to a magical conclusion.
