Any V-Day scenario I can dream up would be helped by some tiny, frosted cakes. Whimsical Cake Studio has a range of them available, plus some more exotic fare on this special day of love, lust and romance.

In front of Whimsical’s cupcake-laden pick-up counter are two tiny tables. Behind, people were busy in acts of creation.

Down the block at Transcend, I sampled my spoils. The zestful lemon cupcake’s sweetly sour frosting melted away on my tongue. The chocolate one was moist and piled with soft, rich mounds of dark buttercream.

At $5.50 a pair – or $16 for 6 – sweet cupcakes might be the perfect accessory to a night of pitching woo.
