Leftist union leader Michel is laid off at a Marseilles shipyard. Used to power, he now delivers newspapers, bolstered by his loving family.  They surprise him with a trip to Africa, but intruders break in, beat him and take the money. Shocking revelations emerge, an arrest is made and two children are left to fend for themselves.  It’s an unpretentious allegory of forgiveness, compassion and equality based on Victor Hugo’s poem How Good are the Poor?  that doesn’t impose answers.
