Karl Lagerfeld arrived at the Metro Paris office promptly on time, and ready to get to work. Fulfilling his duties as the Global Editor in Chief, Lagerfeld presided over the morning news meetings, and chose the headlines, commented on the stories and selected illustration topics before retiring to draw. He emerged with exclusive illustrations, making the February 7th edition of Metro a true collector’s item.
“To me, a sketch is like a newspaper. You do it – and the next day you’re on to a new one,” he told editors.
And he wasn’t the only one to enjoy a banner day: After an epic 24-hour journey from Guadalajara, Mexico, to Paris, France, style competition winner Romina Gómez Villarello realized her dream to meet the couturier. The budding designer presented Karl with a selection of her first university catwalk sketches to show the Kaiser what she’s got. And the verdict: a three-week internship with his design team.
On top of that, the 19-year-old will also receive a private tour of Lagerfeld’s chic headquarters in the heart of Paris.
She rounded the day off with her very own photo shoot with Lagerfeld. Quite a thrill for any fashionista, wouldn’t you agree?
