These five American guys are slowly breaking into the Canadian burger market, so I hit the Sherwood Park location to check out the buzz.

The assembly line was fully in view and I admired neat rows of bedecked buns awaiting burgers and dogs. Heaping boxes of unshelled, salted peanuts offered free appetizers while I waited.

I ordered my bacon cheeseburger “all the way” ($8.49), and Five Guys didn’t disappoint. Not only were the patties (there were two!) rich and flavourful, but the jaw-stretcher was filled to bursting with crisp veggies. The fresh-baked bun was unable to restrain the volume of burgery goodness, but I murmured not a word of complaint.

The fries ($4.99) were crisp and tasty after their cholesterol-free peanut oil bath, and far too plentiful.

I drained my iced tea ($1.99) and decided I was well satisfied.

On price, ingredients and quantity, Five Guys easily tops its fast food rivals. USDA beef or not, welcome to Canada, guys!
