Aside from regular beef burgers, Red Robin serves up a lamb option as well.

The late-night hangout for beer and burgers of my illicit youth remains unchanged, even decades later.

I found the Red Robin’s ’90s pop culture decor comforting. I noted that the menu of old favourites included some startling new innovations.

I picked out the lamb burger ($12.29) and a luscious gingerbread milkshake ($4.99). Thick and sweet, that massive shake was worth every penny.

I enjoyed the tangy raspberry vinaigrette on my standard side salad, but the burger was terrific. A ciabatta bun was piled with bruschetta and black olives, to be pressed down on the tzatziki and feta cheese crowning my thick lamb patty. It was a bit of a mouth-stretcher, which I didn’t mind at all.

With fun mixed drinks, burgers and pub grub intended for sharing, the restaurant remains a favourite for teens, families and seniors. Its lifespan measured so far in decades, this Red Robin will keep bob-bob-bobbin’ along.
