Despite the helpful pictures of each entrée, there were simply too many lusciously-described options on the Oodle Noodle menu board to assimilate.

The line of regulars moved quickly towards the cash-only till and I seized on the last item I read: Bangkok Pad Thai ($9.50) with housemade tamarind sauce and a can of iced tea ($1.25).

My hefty takeout box was readied instantly by hyperkinetic sous-chefs on a row of blazing woks. It was stuffed to the brim with crisp veggies, tender meat and delicious rice noodles. And unlike its competitors, Oodle Noodle makes sure that noodles, chicken, prawns and flavour extend all the way to the bottom of the box!

I managed to finish the substantial serving, though I could have easily taken home half for another lunch. On my way out, I nodded at the row of “best takeout” awards on the wall. Staying or going, a lunch rush here means you’re using your noodle.
