Open early until 3 or 4 p.m.  daily, Hap’s Hungry House is built on the idea that customers wanted a quick, inexpensive, filling breakfast all day.

My coffee cup was filled ($2.15) and kept filled after I ordered my French toast with sausage ($11.55). The service was quick among the large crowd and in minutes I was carving into the first of three huge slices of lightly-battered, Texas-sized raisin bread.

The sausages were a little fatty, but the hefty French slabs were a delight.

My bride’s Benedict ($9.95) with a side of perfectly pan-fried potatoes earned full marks as well.

I’m a breakfast guy, and I love that chains from the U.S., Quebec and Edmonton have grown to cook me eggs.

However, the owner doesn’t stand at the front of the busy restaurant to find me a seat. Both hungers can be satisfied at Hap’s house any time.
