Ossington is tightly packed with cool food joints. Does it really need another?
If it’s Goed Eten, then yes. Run by the same folks of Le Petit Dejeuner, Belgian treats abound – poutines drenched in gluttonous offerings, Brussels style waffles made to order, all day breakfasts and sweets such as ice cream and maple syrup – to start your day!
An intriguing choice is the Waffle Pressed Sandwich. Peameal bacon, egg and three cheeses ($5) are compressed between two slices of egg bread that have been “waffled.” It doesn’t even need a lick of ketchup.
Sandwiches continue to pique our interest with Home Smoked Salmon and Cucumber ($6) on homemade bread. Marie Rose sauce (ketchup and mayo), matchsticks of fresh apple and richly-flavoured salmon elevate it beyond the ordinary.
Skip the greasy Belgian Fries with Mayo ($4) and load up on large glasses of fresh juice ($3) instead. The Tangerine is magnificent.
