Kane’s Harley Diner is a fantastic place for a family-friendly lunch. The kitschy Inglewood homage to Harley dishes out plates that will keep you full on the road and beyond.
The best plates are the ones dripping with homemade gravy, like the Burn Out Hammy ($10.50). Sautéed mushrooms and onions were slathered over a well-done hamburger patty on thick, garlic toast.
Route 66 ($10) is another gravy-worthy vessel. Two thick slabs of meatloaf, flecked with minced vegetables, came on toasted bread, lettuce, tomato and onion.
The fries are ordinary, but their onion rings are nice and crunchy.
Despite pies listed on the menu, there were none. Fortuitously, the homemade cinnamon buns are to die for. Kane’s serves them cut it in half, toasted warm and then smeared with cream cheese frosting.
The decade-old biker decor (black, white and orange) is showing its age but regulars come for the down home food and service, which is of the "sweetie" and "darling" variety.
