The “Alien” series, including Prometheus: Someone needs a breath mint.

What are the chances there’s an “Alien” out there?

Dr. Margaret Weitekamp, pop culture curator for the Division of Space History in the National Air and Space Museum, believes that the universe would be an odd waste of space if we were the only intelligent creatures out there.

“The idea that we’re alone on this third rock from the sun is rather extraordinary,” she says. But don’t start dialing Ripley just yet. Humans don’t have the capabilities of making contact over the vast areas of space, so finding smart aliens who want to impregnate us right now is highly unlikely.

Still, Weitekamp points out that we’ve only been sending out our signals in space since the 21st century via radio waves and other like technology, and it can take a while for those “messages” to travel.

The game is not over, man.
